Day two was another good day! This match has a lot of fast moving targets, so it’s taken a stage that would normally look easy, or straight up, and humbles you very quickly!!! That happened to me today on a stage, but I put up strong scores the rest of the day! I feel good about my performance, and where it will put me overall.. We got caught up on all of our stages today, being a morning squad.. But, I’m afraid the afternoon squad will be making stages up in the morning, and then be behind again. I shoot my last 5 stages tomorrow afternoon, and then we’ll see the scores end up!

Limited Nationals Day 1

Day 1 is finally over, which I was beginning to think it wouldn’t end!

I had a good day shooting, my first stage to start wasn’t great, I shot a no-shoot, not once, but twice (but made up the shots, and got my points)!! And surprisingly, I just shook it off.. Most of the time something like that makes me feel like the world is coming to an end.. It’s such a big mistake and to make it on the first stage!! But, knowing that this is an 18 stage 450 round match, I took my own advice, and shook it off. I didn’t let it phase me, and moved on to the next stages as if it didn’t even happen! By not letting it ruin my mental game, I shot the rest of the day clean and strong!

With some of the stages taking A LOT longer than others, everything got backed up, and my squad actually didn’t finish our stages for the day.. They announced on our 3rd to last stage, that we would get our walk through, and if we wanted to shoot, we could, but if not we had to be back in morning.. Leaving two more stages to make up as well. At that point, it’s kind of a tough decision to make on whether or not to shoot, and you definitely don’t want to make the wrong one. I managed to get one of the three stages in, but decided to wait on the other two. With the sun down below the berms, and the targets matching the color of the bays, it was just too risky! So, me and my squad will be on the range bright and early…er, than planned, to squeeze in the stages we couldn’t finish today.

Hoping everyone had a good day on the range as well, and hopefully things won’t be so backed up tomorrow!! Since I have to be up at a such an indecent hour I am going to call it a night!

2012 USPSA Nationals

It’s that time of year! The USPSA Back-to-Back National Championships are finally here!!

This year I will be competing in Limited and Open, two categories that I spend the majority of my time in.. But, that still means that I have to be ready to go mentally, and physically! With a few new ladies competing in Limited this year, top ranked Open shooter Athena Lee for one, it will definitely make for a great competition! As far as Open goes, I don’t know of any new shooters yet, but I do know that some of the best ladies, Megan Francisco, Athena Lee, Kaci Cochran, Lisa Munson (just to rattle off a few) will be present for sure! So, with such a great group of ladies in attendance for both matches, I am looking forward it!

I’m wishing everyone a good and safe match for the duration!

2011 Shooting Industry Masters

Team Leupold headed to the Shooting Industry Masters this past weekend, held at the Rock Castle Shooting Resort!

This year Leupold was nominated for the “Optic of the Year” and the “Hunting Accessory of the Year”, and they were very excited to win both categories!

We also had a great time shooting pistol, rifle and shotgun stages! This being my first year at the Industry Masters, I had the chance to shoot some guns I’v e never shot before! Needless to say, I will definitely be back next year!

2011 Pro/Am

The 2011 Pro/Am was another great match of the year! This is always one of my favorite matches to shoot! This year I didn’t have as far to travel, since it was moved to Frostproof, FL at Frank Garcia’s range. With the Pro/Am consisting of all steel stages with set par times, it definitely makes for exciting outcomes!

This year I am proud to congratulate one of my best friends and training partners, Randi Rogers, for her first place Ladies Limited finish!! She shot an incredible match, finishing strong with 200+ plate count! Randi and I spend a lot of time on the range together, so I couldn’t be happier for her to claim such a victory!

For Open, I was thinking it was going to be the same 1-2 finish as the Limited match, just not having a good start out of the gate. But after putting my head back in the game, and fighting back, I was able to take home the Overall Amateur Open title! This means I will be moved to Pro next year, and will have to compete with the guys!

I want to thank everyone who was involved in putting this match on, it was a lot of hard work in the HOT sun! But we definitely appreciate it, and I look forward to next year!

Congratulations again to all the Champions for this years Pro/Am!
